Weston, West Virginia is home to the Weston State Hospital. Weston State Hospital, formerly known as the Trans-Allegheny Asylum for the Insane, stands vacant but proud along the banks of the West Fork of the Monongahela River in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia.

The land that the YMCA is sitting on was once part of a large plantation, not an uncommon theme in Maryland. The original house and out buildings have all been torn down.

The castle was built by wealthy Maryland businessman Samuel Taylor Suit for his young bride, Rosa, in 1885. She was 29 years younger than him!

Underground Railroad station

The house was once an Underground Railroad stop. People have heard the sound of rattling chains in the house. The spirits of slaves and Civil War soldiers have been seen in the house. Doors open and close on their own accord and lights are known to turn on and off.
