The Cavalier Hotel has been and continues to be a landmark in the beach resort community of Virginia Beach. Built in the 1920s and host to many historic and famous persons, the hotel also includes as it's guests some who have crossed to the other side. These guests include a phantom 'bellman', a cat and the ghost of a sad little girl. The 6th floor of the hotel seems to be especially active.

Heavy metal in a different sense

This is a strange haunting that involves 'the sounds of cars being heard'. Reports of night-time traveler include flashing light in the nearby field; travelers who stop, it's said, can hear sounds of car doors closing and radios playing.

Colby Mansion

Things that go boom in the night

The Colby Mansion house is boarded and abandoned. It was built in the 1800's by a wealthy railroad man. A bout of depression reportedly struck this well-to-do man, and, unfortunately, he shot and killed his wife. He promptly cut off her head, the story goes, and placed it on the fireplace mantle. Soon thereafter, and the story gets murky here, he was killed by local the local sheriff. Both bodies are buried in the estate's graveyard.

A cut and a scare.

The old hotel, built in 1898 by realtor/developer George W. Albaugh, is located at the corner of Westminster Ave and East Main streets. There was a barber shop in the hotel. A man named Jim Hopes was the barber. Everyone in the town liked this friendly man who was truly a quintessential barber.
