Algonquin ghosts in the Mountain Ranges

The Shawanee Indians were known to feud with other members of the Algonquin Tribes such as the Iroquois and Cherokee. After continued attacks by Shawanee Indian tribes, dozens of the beleaguered tribes banded together and fought fiercely and bravely on the Mountain Range.

Green Mountain in Cheverly, not too far from the Prince Georges hospital. It was rumored to be the camp site for the British troops that marched through Bladensburg and later on into DC.

Statue of Benjamin Rush, M.D.

The statue of Benjamin Rush, M.D. (1745-1813) is located at the grounds of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery , across from the entrance to the old Observatory building. The larger-than-life, bronze statue honors the Philadelphia physician, medical educator and the signer of the Declaration of Independence.
