Current site of the Frederick County Historical Society contains more than simple exhibits

This house was originally constructed as a private home. Then it served as a female orphanage for many years. It is now home to the Frederick County Historical Society. Many stories, several ghosts.

The Haunted Chamber

This home is haunted by the spirits of a man and a woman. They have been seen many times in one of the rooms. People call that room "The Haunted Chamber". It is unknown their possible relation or reason for haunting.

Haunted Historic Hannah House

Built in 1858 by Alexander Hannah, a farmer, prospector, sheriff, postmaster, circuit clerk and civic leaded. Unknown to almost everyone, the basement of his house was a connection on the Underground Railroad for slaves seeking freedom in Canada. Alexander took Elizabeth as his wife and they lived together in the house until his death on April 15, 1895. Dying without an heir, the property was sold to a german immigrant and remained in his family up to this day. The house is said to be haunted by the ghost of Elizabeth Hannah, still looking over her once beloved home and slaves killed in a fire.
