An old victorian mansion now a well known Bed & Breakfast

The building is now a nine-bedroom Inn; however, it is known to be haunted by a number of ghosts. One room is haunted by a young couple. When the couple appears they look "solid," as in real [uncommon for ghostly appearances, and it may indicate a recent and strong energy]. Guests who have come into contact with the couple have thought that the couple were also guests of the Inn. That's pretty real. People think that the couple has accidentally entered the wrong room until the couple vanish in front of their faces.

Presidential mourning and antics

Employees and guests have experienced some strange occurrences at The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel which appear to be linked to the inauguration of President Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge did not attend his own inaugural ball in 1925 because he was mourning the death of his 16-year-old son.

Two old buildings are haunted by "prankish spirits."

The museum is composed of two old buildings; one dates back to the 1865 and the other dates back to the 20th Century. The museum is said to be haunted by prankish spirits. Most of the strange unexplained activities occur in the oldest building. One day the librarian came out of the machine shop with his face as white as a ghost. He reported that the power saw had suddenly turned itself on. One of the employees suggested that it could have been a faulty switch. The Librarian said it was not a faulty switch. He reported that when he went to shut it off, he found the saw was not even plugged in. One evening an employee puts some heavy boxes in one place shortly before closing, and the next morning he found the boxes moved across the room. A tour guide saw a man in 19th-century dress walk right through a wall. The museum staff did some research and learned that there had once been a doorway at the spot where the ghostly apparition made its exit. Employees have heard giggling from little girl's when there are no little girls around. And they hear printing press running when nobody's there. The employees know that they are not alone.

The existence of these tunnels has been substantiated by several witnesses. One of the entrances is in the cellar of the inn. According to legend, Brother Albrecht hid some treasure and wine in a secret room. His ghost reportedly still guards the treasure. Cold spots and feeling a presence have been reported.

The oldest fort in the nation.

The Fort dates back to 1693 when it was built and used during the Revolutionary days. Three ghosts have taken up resident at the Fort and they don't seem to want to leave.
