Once magnificent. Now in sad disrepair.

The Tait House sits today in total disrepair, and it has been this way for more than a decade. It was once a magnificent house. It has fallen into a place that children come to scare themselves. The brave children go inside the old house to check it out because it is rumored to be haunted. A young woman who was one of the Tait daughters haunts the house. Her father did not approved of the man that she was in love with and he would not allow them to marry. There is an old trap door that leads from the basement to a tunnel. The tunnel ran about 30 feet to an icehouse; the tunnel has now partially collapsed.

Laughing and pushing...

Near the battle site Antietam there is a stretch of road that leads out of Boonsboro and towards several Civil War battle sites. If you drive your vehicle to the base of the steep hill and put your vehicle in neutral the ghosts of Confederate army men will push your vehicle back up the slight incline towards Boonsboro. It is said they are pushing cannons and artillery pieces. Sometimes you can hear laughter from the woods.
