Lost Silver Mine

Searching in vain for the vein, many have tried but died.

Silver Run, Maryland is an area that was mined in the 1880's. The story goes that there was a vein of pure silver located there. An old German silversmith named Arwud and his daughter staked out the site but before they could collect their wealth they were murdered by Indians. The location of the mine was never revealed to anyone.

Bellevue Mansion

Some rooms are now off-limits

The upper levels of this old Du Pont home are off limits because of strange occurrences: Chairs, it is said, will move around by themselves. The sound of laughter, screaming and moaning is also heard in the upper floors. The lights flickering off and on by themselves.

Weinberg Center

Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland
FKA: Tivoli Theatre

Old theatre with several hauntings.

The Weinberg Center opened just before Christmas, 1926. The theater had 1,500 seats. The Tivoli Theatre was the largest of the three downtown Frederick movie houses. It cost over $300,000 to build, a fantastic sum in its time. The Tivoli featured lavish decoration with marble, mosaics, velvet chairs, and crystal chandeliers. The theater had a Wurlitzer organ. It is the only one in that is still completely intact and in it original shape. The architect for the Tivoli was John J. Zink. He was a native of Baltimore. The theater business of course steadily declined, and the Tivoli finally closed. A disastrous flood in 1976 from a nearby river caused substantial damage. The town decided to restore the grand old theater to its original glory. It took a year and a half to restore the building, but the rebuilt Tivoli reopened in 1978, now known as the Weinberg Center for the Arts, having been named for the family that donated the building to the city of Frederick. The old theater is thought to be haunted by spirits who worked in the old theater in its past.

Fall Hill Plantation

Fredericksburg City, Virginia
AKA: The Falls; Fall Hill; Thronton Family Home

Katina haunts this ancient house

The Thornton family was among the early 18th century settlers on the falls of the Rappahannock River. They named their home, plainly enough, "The Falls." The Thorntons soon enough built another house, more elegant, and named it "Fall Hill." That estate has been passed down to the descendants of the Thornton family and is known to be haunted by ghostly apparitions seen walking throughout the house and on the grounds.
