Final resting place of the Adams family The cemetery is the final resting place of Josiah Adams and his family. The Adams were slaves or descendants of slaves who worked on the nearby Riverdale and Calvert estates. Adams was a gardener on the Riversdale Plantation. Freed at the end of the Civil War, he became a farmer. He was buried in 1894. The house dates back to Civil War days. The house is reportedly haunted. The sounds of footsteps, thunds, banging, are heard that have no explanation. Candles have risen in the air and moved across the room all by themsleves. Ghostly apparitions have been seen. Ghostly soldiers dress in Civil War uniforms have appeared in the house and on the lawn. Avoid being crushed by cabinetry This house is haunted by a woman who died there. People have heard the sounds of groaning and moaning. The woman was crushed by a cabinet. Her moaning is still heard throughout the house. Maybe Sally bleaches the meat? A young girl known as Sally haunts the Foodlion in Summersville. She is a young girl around the age of 8, and she knocks stuff off the shelves and then returns them to their original spots. However, when Sally gets upset she is said to pick up wooden crates and smash them to the ground. After months of research the management was told by the former owners that Sally was buried underneath the store's location.
